TIYASHA'S STORY

Tiyasha Dutta Paul is an Odissi dancer who has trained in India since 1994. She has passed the Sangeet Visharad under Pracheen Kala Kendra with distinction.

 

At 6, she began her Odissi training under her cousin Sri Subikash Mukherjee and then his first Guru, Guru Giridhari Nayak. When Subikash returned from Odissi Research Centre after studying under the legendary Dr. Kumkum Mohanty, she began to train directly under him. She has been expanding her repertoire by studying under maestros of the field, the Late Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Padma Shri Guru Madhavi Mudgal, Padma Shri Dr. Ileana Citaristi, Guru Sri Ratikanta Mohapatra and Guru Sujata Mohapatra through intensive workshops.

 

She has performed with Sankalpa Nrityayan in Kolkata, Srjan in Orissa, Odissi Ensemble, AKADEMI, Poorvika, SOAS Indian Dance Society, Arunima Kumar Dance Company, Jaivant Patel Dance in London, and Rome, both as group and solo.

 

Tiyasha continues to work in the field of Asian Art and gives lecture demonstrations on Odissi and Indian Sculpture.
